How do we know the Bible is not a myth (Part One)

To connect the truth of archaeology and the truth of the Bible, we have to go to the ancient land of Canaan. That is where the pioneers of archaeology built their foundation. Even as non-christians they were drawn to the land of the Bible.

The Land

The land of ancient Israel is a small part of a fertile area of the middle east. It was the birthplace of modern civilization. The area brings together 3 continents and so it was the center of any transport route.

A land of invention

In the land of Israel there were significant development in agriculture, writing, and bronze metalwork.

A land of action

All the empires and armies of the ancient world fought through this area and claimed it as their own.

A land of tels

A tel is an artificial hill that is made of several layer of city. As a city was destroyed and rebuilt it adds to the land mass. Digging in those tels allows for a journey back through the ages of civilization.

The tels are the key for finding the evidence of the inventions and armies.

A land of extremes

It has lush greenery and deserts with no rain. The lowest point of land on the earth at the dead sea. There are also mountains with snow and skiing!

The Book of the Bible

The book of the Bible is an archaeological artifact. Writing materials do not survive very well. But early Christians copied and copied the manuscripts so many times that enough survived for us to have the book today. The land of Israel allows for unique preservation. The area of the dead sea is the perfect environment for these artifacts to remain untouched. Early manuscripts show that the Bible we have today is up to 95% the same from 2.5 thousand years ago. This proves the reliability of what we read as God's word today.

In heiroglyphs from Egypt we can see quite readable texts that reference the "People of God". It is the first ever reference of the people of Israel outside of the Bible that lived in the land of Canaan. They boasted of their destruction and obviously hated them so much. This we know was not true, and we can learn much of Israel from their enemies.
